Distance learning courses from Learning Curve

Home study courses from learning curve offer a range of benefits. They have been written and developed by subject experts who understand the needs of open learning students. They come complete with the up-to-date textbooks, one-to-one distance support from experienced tutors, and excellent course material.

Our courses are ideal for students who find it difficult to attend conventional college courses because of other commitments, such as a full-time job or caring for young children.

More and more people are realising the advantages of returning to study: developing new skills, finding new interests, or perhaps just keeping the old grey cells ticking over. But it's not always easy. If you have work or family commitments, for example, attending college can be difficult. Distance learning is often the perfect solution, allowing you to take full control of your learning and work at your own pace. It allows you to fit studying into your life.

Distance learning is an effective, flexible way to learn. It means that you study at a distance from your tutor rather than in a classroom. You work through course materials written by specialists and send your assignments to a qualified personal tutor for feedback on your work. You can also contact your tutor at any stage if you need additional help or advice.

Most students enjoy working through their learning materials and assignments. You'll work through carefully structured modules with defined learning objectives, and try out activities to practice your skills.

Each course has a set number of assignments. The course materials give full guidance on how to prepare and complete each one. You can study at home, on the train or the bus, at work - wherever you please. There are no fixed classes to attend. Learning Curve comes to you, so you can decide where and when to study. This will depend partly on the course you choose, but it also depends on how much time you can spend on your studies.

The advantage of our courses is that you can study at your own pace and in your own time. There are no deadlines. You will find it helpful to draw up a study plan. Your course material will include advice on how to organise your studies. Your tutor can also help you to draw up realistic goals. You can take up to three years to complete your studies. Most Learning Curve courses can be completed within twelve months. However, if you are unable to complete your assignments within three years, we can extend your course for a further twelve months, for a small extra fee.

Learning Curve tutors are chosen for their subject expertise, their knowledge of open and distance learning, and their experience of working with adult learners. They'll give helpful advice and encouraging feedback on your work so you can progress quickly. Your tutor will let you know a regular time when he or she is available to receive telephone calls. This will allow you to deal with any problems or questions quickly and efficiently. If you prefer, you can also submit assignments and contact your tutor by e-mail. This is a quick and convenient way to discuss problems and receive marked assignments back from your tutor, particularly if you live outside the UK.
